ANMPA

Anguniaqvia niqiqyuam Marine Protected Area

Arctic Coast works collaboratively with the community of Paulatuk to conduct on-going research and monitoring program in Anguniaqvia niqiqyuam MPA. Crews, consisting of community members from Paulatuk, go to Argo Bay, Bennett Point, and Brown's Harbour every summer and winter to collect data about the coastal ecosystem.

Objectives

Our objectives are to:

• Monitor the coastal environment in the ANMPA and build capacity within the community

• Investigate biodiversity and relative abundance of fish, and collect biological samples in order to study life history, diet, and interactions among co-occurring species

• Monitor habitat parameters used by fishes (salinity, temperature, depth, benthos, ice thickness) among multiple sites

• Compare fish and habitat among spatial, seasonal and temporal time scales
